If you’re new to digital asset management or training others, having a handle on the terminology is helpful. We’ve compiled a glossary that will guide you through the lingo. Send it out when you’re onboarding team members or give it a look anytime you need a refresher.

A rotating group of images. When users click images displayed in a carousel on a homepage, they can be taken to another section of the DAM solution, like a lightbox or the asset details page for the clicked image.

Digital assets/creative assets:
Something represented in a digital form, often with utility for creatives, such as images, photos, creative files, video, audio, presentations, documents and more.
Rules that control whether or not assets can be downloaded depending on metadata, user-type and from responses.
Inserting assets on third-party platforms. With Webdam, there are three types:
- Embeddable carousels give you the option to schedule when and how long an asset displays on a website– and what asset comes next.
- Embeddable downloads give you the added option to embed a thumbnail PLUS a link to download the asset.
- Embeddable links reference to an asset from a DAM that can be inserted into third party platforms such as blogs, websites, etc.
Metadata search filters that make it easy to search by categories such asset type, business units, event year, brands, or products.
Folders hold assets, nested folders or both. Assets can only reside in one folder.

Configurable forms that, when completed and submitted, are used to trigger the creation of a new task.

The center window of the application that can include folders and/or asset thumbnails.
The panel on the top of a page displaying the available menus.
Allows users to download portions of videos, instead of downloading a full length video. This setting can be controlled by admins and limited to specific groups.
